The 2nd Asia Pacific Symposium on Postharvest Research, Education, and Extension (APS2012) will be organized by ISHS (International Society of Horticultural Science), Ministry of Agriculture Republic of Indonesia, and IPB (Bogor Agricultural University) in 2012. The first of this similar symposium had been founded and held successfully by Dr Sirichai Kanlayanarat from King Monkutt University Thonburi in Bangkok, Thailand 02-04 August 2010.
Integrated Innovation and Extention to achieve standard quality and safety for export agricultural products.
Scopes of Symposium
Symposium will invite papers in this following areas : 
  1. Recent postharvest technology innovation to achieve product quality and safety standard for export.
  2. Implementation of GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) and GPP (Good Packaging Practices) on the farm and cold chain distribution to support export of fresh produce.
  3. Posharvest system and equipment in plant factory.
  4. Certification system for GAP farms and GPP packing houses.
  5. Application of quarantine system for export and import of agricultural products.
  6. Supply chain management and improvement of value chain system for agricultural products.
  7. Lifelong learning for stakeholders in postharvest value chain of agricultural products.
  8. Post harvest education and research training development.
  9. Policy support to food quality and food safety programs. 
More topics that are of interests are welcome to be recommended.
Participants are expected from government executives, private sectors, and academicians.
Date and Venue 
The symposium will be held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia on 18-20 September 2012.
There will be two day symposium, and one day field visit. The program will be carried out in plenary as well as in concurrent sessions for oral presentations. Distinguished speakers will be invited for the plenary sessions. Poster sessions will also be available.

Language through the course of symposium will be in English.
The proceedings of the symposium as a volume of Acta Horticulturae will be published by ISHS (International Society of Horticultural Sciences) after the event. Symposium participants will be provided by Book of Program and Abstracts. Participants who pay the full registration fee will receive a copy of the Acta Horticulturae symposium proceedings after the event
Field Visit 
Field visit will be conducted to fruit orchard that is applying government star program towards Global GAP. The visit will be continued to the site of Merapi volcano, and the ancient landmark of Borobudur, a historical four story Buddhist temple – once one of the Seven Wonder of the World.
